One way I developed the conventions is by not making the narrative the main focus of my music video, but instead relying on the performance to keep the audience interested. I did this by only showing cutaways or performance in-between small chunks of narrative. This way the audience would want to watch on to find out what happens.

Another way that I developed the narrative was by having an ambiguous ending, rather than an equilibrium, as seen in in Todorov's narrative's theory. I did start with and equalibrium, which is then distrusted. However this disruption is not restored to an equilibrium  as Todorov would have liked. This is not typically seen in narratives, as audiences like to have a closed ending. However I did this so that the audience can make their own predictions.

I also made sure that the editing was fast paced, a typical convention of music videos, but I decided that some parts would be slower than others to help show contrast and emphasise certain parts of the video. It was also useful to do this to separate my narrative from the performance elements of my video.

I also decided to use a range of different camera angles, as well as the traditional ones. This way I would be able to develop on traditional techniques used in music videos and make them my own. This shows how Neale's theory of repetition and variation can be applied to my products.
